ASHBURN, Va. -- The Washington Redskins will pick in an unusual spot in the upcoming NFL draft: low in the first round. After their playoff loss to the Packers, the Redskins ended up with the 21st pick.
It’s the first time the Redskins will pick in the 20s since 2005 when they selected quarterback Jason Campbell, though that was their second pick in the opening round.
The last time the Redskins' first pick was this low occurred in 2008 when they also owned the 21st pick. They traded that pick, plus their third- and fifth-round selections, to Atlanta for the Falcons’ two second-round picks and a fourth-round pick.
