Quinton Dunbar gets called up to Redskins active roster, ready to compete at new position

Redskins cornerback Quinton Dunbar knew on Thursday there would be a good chance he’d get called up from the practice squad. After head coach Jay Gruden tipped him off about the opportunity during the Giants game, it came to fruition on Tuesday when he was promoted to the active roster.

The team placed Justin Rogers on injured reserve with plantar fasciitis, leaving Washington with just three healthy cornerbacks – Chris Culliver, Bashaud Breeland and Will Blackmon. The Redskins will be without DeAngelo Hall for at least three to four weeks because of a partial tear in his right big toe suffered against the Giants, and they turned to Dunbar to provide depth at the position.
