Preston Smith's big day needs to carry over for Redskins

ASHBURN, Va., -- Five observations on the Washington Redskins' defense after their 41-21 win over the Chicago Bears:

  1. Preston Smith had more impact on Saturday’s game than any I’ve seen him have. It wasn’t just the sack – plus the other sack that was called back – and the blocked field goal. It was the pressure that led to two other interceptions, both by corner Josh Norman. It makes you wonder why Smith has been so inconsistent – or, rather, so quiet at times. He had a lot to learn last season about being a professional; I don’t think those issues go away just like that.
