RICHMOND — For nearly all the Redskins mired far back on the depth chart, Thursday night’s preseason game in Cleveland represents the culmination of a dream many years in the making.
For Quinton Dunbar, it’s also a last-minute change-up.
Undrafted out of college, the Florida wide receiver signed as a Redskins free agent in May and faced slim odds of making the 53-man roster, slotted as the team’s 12th receiver.
Just last week, with injury decimating the ranks of defensive backs available for training-camp work, Coach Jay Gruden converted Dunbar to a cornerback — seeing potential in his long limbs, speed and quick-twitch reflexes during a special-teams drill.
