EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Washington Football Team's offense couldn't generate enough points despite controlling the game against the New York Giants on Sunday. So the defense decided to help them out.
Late in the third quarter, Washington safety Bobby McCain stepped in front of a pass intended for tight end Evan Engram and sprinted 30 yards for a touchdown. Washington failed on the two-point conversion, but it still produced a 12-0 lead.
Washington's offense had managed just two field goals in the first half, despite outgaining New York 177-48 in the opening two quarters.
