Perry Riley to have surgery on foot, expected to miss three to six weeks

ASHBURN — Washington Redskins inside linebacker Perry Riley will be out three to six weeks after having surgery on his right foot. Riley injured his foot in Thursday’s practice and afterward was rather optimistic it was not serious. However, an MRI exam revealed a break in his fifth metatarsal.

Riley was playing well in the last three games. He recorded 21 tackles, along with three pass deflections and two interceptions.

“The last two weeks he has been outstanding for us and played with a lot of confidence,” coach Jay Gruden said. “It’s a big loss.”

The Redskins were already shorthanded at inside linebacker because of Keenan Robinson’s unspecified shoulder injuries.
