The Washington Redskins have few veteran contracts they can shed to create cap space this offseason. Among the team’s options could be wide receiver DeSean Jackson, whose is signed through the 2016 season. He inked a four-year deal worth $24 million in 2014, but Jackson lacks the guaranteed money he received in the first two seasons of the deal. The 29-year-old has a cap number of $9.25 million, and the Redskins could save $8 million in cap space if they let him go after June 1.
The team could use the extra space, especially if it designates quarterback Kirk Cousins with the franchise tag.
