CLEVELAND – The Washington Redskins have lost tight end and special teams ace Niles Paul for the season after the fifth-year veteran fractured and dislocated his left ankle in Thursday night’s preseason opener.
Meanwhile, backup running back Silas Redd Jr. is believed to have torn the anterior cruciate ligament and possibly the medial collateral ligament in his right knee, and also could be lost for the season. The team hadn’t yet received the results from an MRI exam done on the second-year back’s knee.
Paul suffered his injury when Cleveland linebacker Craig Robertson fell on Paul’s ankle and rolled over on it at the end of a first-quarter run play where Paul was blocking.
