Backup running back Silas Redd Jr.’s quest to come back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and compete for a spot on the Redskins’ depth chart will have to wait a while longer.
The NFL announced on Tuesday that Redd has received an indefinite suspension for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. This ban comes just five months after Redd received a four-game suspension from the league for the same reason.
Redd, who signed with Washington as an undrafted free agent out of Southern California in 2014 and appeared in 16 games as a backup, missed the entire 2015 season after tearing ligaments in his knee during the preseason.
