The Washington Redskins are expected to extend an offer to defensive lineman Chris Baker once free agency talks begin on Tuesday, according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post. The two sides have had "encouraging" discussions, Jones notes.
The 29 year old has spent the past five years with the Redskins and is coming off back-to-back productive seasons. His best season came in 2015, when he accounted for six sacks, three forced fumbles (two recovered) and 53 tackles.
The former Hampton Pirate has been one bright spot along the Redskins' defensive line, an area in which the team has struggled in recent years.
