NFL draft: What the Redskins could and should do at safety

It’s no secret that safety ranks among the Redskins’ needs in this coming draft.

Despite the return of DeAngelo Hall, who is poised to open the season as the starting free safety, the re-signing of Duke Ihenacho, who could start at strong safety, but is coming off of two straight injury-plagued seasons, and the signing of David Bruton Jr., an eighth-year veteran and career-backup/special teams ace, Washington remains thin at the position.

Kyshoen Jarrett’s status for the coming season remains very much in doubt because of nerve damage in his neck/shoulder area. Coaches have discussed the possibility of trying Will Blackmon, the versatile 10th-year vet, who started 10 games at cornerback last season, at safety.
