Most years, the NFL season accomplishes two specific goals: identify the best teams and send them to the playoffs. This is not one of those years. Odds are, two bad teams (if not more) will get into the playoffs. The AFC South and NFC East champions both get automatic bids, and with three weeks to play, not a single team in either of those divisions has a winning record. Only two teams in NFL history have made the playoffs with a sub-.500 record -- the 7-9 Seahawks (2010) and the 7-8-1 Panthers (2014). Both managed to win a postseason game despite their sorry regular-season performance.
