Matthew Stafford could miss multiple games with back injury

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford will miss Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears with a back injury, which could cost him multiple games.

According to ESPN, Stafford has fractured bones in his back and doctors consider him week-to-week. One source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Stafford could miss up to three weeks, as well.

That’s significant for the Redskins because Washington plays Detroit on Nov. 24 at FedEx Field.

Backup Jeff Driskel will start Sunday’s game in Chicago.

Stafford’s injury caused him to snap his steak of 136 consecutive starts — the sixth-longest in the NFL.
