Matt Jones sits out Redskins practice with lingering pain, stiffness in hip

After testing out his injured hip and practicing in a limited capacity on Wednesday, Redskins running back Matt Jones was unable to take part in Thursday’s session, Coach Jay Gruden said.

Jones, who has a hip pointer, missed last Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He lacks full range of motion in his hip, and it remained painful. And so, instead of having him try to press through practice, Redskins coaches and trainers kept Jones sidelined Thursday.

His availability for Sunday’s regular season finale at Dallas remains in doubt.

Left tackle Trent Williams, slowed by knee and foot injuries, took part in a brief portion of the individual drills portion of practice, but no more.
