One of the strangest plays you’ll see on an NFL field this season somehow bounced in the Washington Redskins’ favor. Twice.
During the fourth quarter, the Redskins’ offense converted on a 3rd and 6 situation from their own 37 with a prayer heave from quarterback Kirk Cousins that was intended for tight end Jordan Reed in double coverage. The pass was deflected by Bears cornerback Sherrick McManis in coverage, then went off Reed’s fingertips and into the hands of rookie running back Matt Jones, who caught the ball while stumbling to the ground.
Jones then flipped the ball on the ground after thinking he was touched down, but he hadn’t been following the catch.
