ANALYSIS/OPINION:
The last time the Washington Redskins made a trade for a 33-year-old starting quarterback with coach Andy Reid, it didn’t turn out too well.
The news broke Tuesday that the Redskins had traded for Kansas City Chiefs three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Alex Smith, in return for a third-round draft choice and cornerback Kendall Fuller, according to various reports.
The deal also reportedly includes a four-year contract extension for Smith, who had one year left on his deal with the Chiefs.
The trade means the end of the Kirk Cousins era in Washington.
