The Washington Redskins lost two defensive backs to head injuries during the first half of Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Dallas Cowboys.
Rookie safety Kyshoen Jarrett went down after a helmet-to-helmet hit during the first quarter. Then in the second quarter, a helmet-to-helmet collision knocked cornerback Dashaun Phillips out of the game.
Both players laid on the field motionless for some time after their collisions. Eventually Jarrett, who started at strong safety with Dashon Goldson inactive because of a rib injury, sat up and was helped off the field, walking woozily and flanked by members of the team’s medical staff.
