Kirk Cousins' execution makes a difference for Redskins, as did a timely drop

ASHBURN, Va. -- The Washington Redskins' backs have become a bigger part of the passing attack, whether on screens or swing passes. They’re not exactly hard throws, but they’re more effective if the quarterback sells the fake. And that’s what Kirk Cousins has done lately.

Those weren’t the biggest plays in the Redskins’ 20-14 win over the New York Giants. But they are subtle plays that are a combination of design and execution. The coaches designed plays that cleared out a side of the field and Cousins sold the play to prevent defenders from anticipating a screen.
