Kirk Cousins says he’s more confident in Year 2 of Gruden’s offense, and the results back him up

The carefully managed battle for the Redskins’ No. 2 quarterback job continues Saturday at Baltimore, where it’s Kirk Cousins’s turn to lead the second-team offense once the starters bow out.

Drafted three rounds behind Robert Griffin III in 2012, Cousins had ample opportunity to seize the starting job last season after Griffin dislocated his ankle in Week 2. While he showed his upside as a quarterback — a strong arm, decisive reads and a quick release — he also gave coaches reason for concern by turning the ball over, finishing with nine interceptions and 10 touchdowns.
