Earlier in the week, the Washington Redskins made a decision to let offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell explore other opportunities. The team hired Scott Turner to be their new offensive coordinator. The 37-year-old worked with Ron Rivera in Carolina and will implement his offensive system in Washington next.
That said, there was some momentum to keep O’Connell around before Turner emerged as the favorite. The 38-year-old had spent three season with the Redskins and received a promotion each offseason. He started as quarterbacks coach before being elevated to passing game coordinator and was finally named offensive coordinator before the 2019 season.
