ASHBURN — After cutting veteran defenders Perry Riley Jr. and Stephen Paea on Tuesday morning, the Washington Redskins rounded out the 75-man roster by placing rookie running back Keith Marshall on injured reserve and tight end Derek Carrier on the physically unable to perform list.
Marshall, who was drafted in the seventh round out of Georgia, had entered the preseason competing with undrafted rookie Robert Kelley for the third running back spot on the roster. Kelley had edged Marshall through the first two preseason games, and then Marshall sustained a left elbow sprain in the third game against the Buffalo Bills last week.
