ASHBURN, Virginia – The position switches can help their careers, but also the Washington Redskins’ defense – that’s why they were made in the first place. So Trent Murphy is now an end; DeAngelo Hall and Will Blackmon now safeties.
But the moves aren’t easy ones. As defensive coordinator Joe Barry said, “You can’t just say, ‘Hey, he’s been in the NFL for 10 years, he can go play another position.’ There are subtle intricacies to every position.“
For the first time this offseason, Barry addressed the moves. Here’s what he had to say:
On Murphy moving from outside linebacker: “We just assessed that Trent is at his best going forward.
