Joe Barry: Redskins’ run defense isn’t as bad as it has looked

Joe Barry and his defensive players admit they have given up way too many rushing yards in each of their past two games. However, while the defensive coordinator and his charges understand the importance of ending the negative trend, they do not believe they have a widespread problem on their hands.

They do, however, need to play with better discipline and fundamentals. That proved evident during the coaches and players’ review of the video of Sunday’s loss to the Jets.

In Week 5 against the Falcons, they drew consolation from the fact that they had held Matt Ryan and his cast of receivers, led by Julio Jones, in check.
