Entering the bye week, Jay Gruden listed fixing the rushing attack as one of the top items on his to-do list. The coach and his assistants spent the off week self-scouting and trying to pinpoint the breakdowns that have kept that facet of the game in check for the better part of the past month.
Gruden said he identified reasons for the breakdowns that have caused Washington to go from league-leaders in rushing during the first couple weeks of the season to one of the worst as of late. The coach believes he has discovered solutions. But a reshuffling of the running-back depth chart is not one of them.
