It’s no secret. The NFC East is weak this year. The Giants are the only team with a winning record after Week 5 at 3-2, while the Cowboys, Eagles and Redskins all sit at 2-3.
The Redskins had an opportunity to snag their first winning record since the 2012 season, but they failed to capitalize on some late opportunities in the 25-19 overtime defeat to the Falcons at the Georgia Dome on Sunday. Unlike every other division, there aren’t one or two clear-cut favorites in the NFC East at this point in the season. The Cowboys have been without quarterback Tony Romo and wide receiver Dez Bryant, the Eagles haven’t been as explosive on offense as many expected and the Giants just narrowly edged a bad 49ers team by three points at home to claim sole possession of first place.
