There’s a good piece upcoming in Sunday’s paper on the Redskins’ attempt to establish a tough offensive philosophy led by a physical running game. When that hasn’t been the case during certain periods this season, Washington has turned from its two bruising backs, Alfred Morris and rookie Matt Jones, to a petite and faster option, Chris Thompson.
Thompson, listed at 5-foot-8 and 193 pounds, has been the most effective player out of the backfield over the last three games. While the run game has struggled in that span, Thompson has led the Redskins’ trio with 97 rushing yards on 11 carries.
