If Redskins don't fix run D, problems will continue

ASHBURN, Va. – The issue arose against Atlanta, when the Falcons exposed a weakness on the Washington Redskins’ defense. The New York Jets followed. So did the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And, over the next nine games, the Redskins know this for certain: Other teams will attempt to do the same.

After four games the Redskins’ defense looked improved vs. the run. Three games later it became a problem. And there’s not one glaring reason why, but it is one that must get fixed if the Redskins want to reach December still alive in playoff contention.

“We’re going to see teams continue to pound it because teams have had success three weeks in a row,” Redskins coach Jay Gruden said.
