Greenberg on Redskins' handling of Haskins: 'Definition of how to ruin'

After the Redskins hired Ron Rivera last month, the new coach made it clear Dwayne Haskins would have to establish himself as the starter and a leader moving forward. On Friday, Doug Williams took it a step further and acknowledged the current coaching staff is “not married” to the young quarterback.

That didn’t sit well with ESPN’s Mike Greenberg.

On the network’s morning program “Get Up,” Greenberg blasted the Redskins’ handling of the 22-year-old — calling the treatment the “definition of how to ruin a young player.”

Greenberg cited former coach Jay Gruden’s reluctance in drafting Haskins last year and how other teams like the Cleveland Browns and the Oakland Raiders have fully gotten behind their quarterbacks.
