The Washington Redskins on Monday made a series of big moves to position themselves for greater salary-cap flexibility in advance of Wednesday’s start to free agency.
By cutting Robert Griffin III, Jason Hatcher, Dashon Goldson and Jeron Johnson, the Redskins cleared $29.5 million off of their salary cap.
Team officials will place a heavy emphasis on defense in free agency and the draft. The first known free-agent visit will take place with former Rams defensive end Chris Long.
