CLEVELAND – The preseason opened in victorious fashion for the Redskins, although the loss of Niles Paul resonated so loudly within the locker room that it didn’t have the feeling of a win.
Robert Griffin III showed some promise, and Jay Gruden praised his decision-making and the way he moved the ball. But ultimately Griffin fell short as the starting offense again failed to score a touchdown in a preseason game. Kirk Cousins, directing the second unit, provided an example of how the offense should work.
Meanwhile, it appears the tandem of Alfred Morris and Matt Jones should cause some real damage.
