Five games into Frankie Luvu's first year with the Washington Commanders has been a step above impactful. It would be hard to replace his effort and presence if he had to miss time. The most impressive aspect of Luvu's tenure is that each game has continuously improved, allowing defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. to be creative with his defensive front alignments.
Luvu has been deployed as a standup linebacker, edge rusher, A-gap blitzer, and aligned as a standup B-gap pass rusher. The Cleveland Browns had a hard time accounting for Luvu as he affected the game as a pass rusher, in pass coverage, and as a run defender.
