Field goals and frustration: Inside the Redskins' red zone failures

DALLAS -- The Washington Redskins’ offensive red zone failure on Thursday didn't come down to one issue. Rather, it was the continuation of a theme. They tried to run the ball, they tried a gimmick play and they tried to throw. Early on, nothing worked.

“There’s not just one reason that seems to be overarching to fix all,” quarterback Kirk Cousins said.

He’s right. But it adds up to a lot of what-could-have-been moments for a team that doesn’t have a lot of margin for error.

The defense allowed 31 points in Thursday's game, but given Dallas’ offensive firepower, a struggle was expected.
