Eagles' public relations staff refrains from using Redskins' nickname in materials

ASHBURN — The Philadelphia Eagles took a stand against using the Washington Redskins‘ nickname, omitting it from their press materials in advance of the game between the two games on Sunday.

In previous copies of their game notes, which include updated statistics and player biographies, the Eagles routinely used their opponents’ nicknames. In this week’s version, the public relations staff simply referred to the Redskins by their city, though they did use the logo on the front page.

When asked about his stance on the nickname in a press conference on Thursday, Eagles coach Chip Kelly paused, then laughed.
