Inactives
Redskins wide receiver Andre Roberts has been ruled inactive for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, the first time the sixth-year player has been made a healthy scratch.
In sitting Roberts, Coach Jay Gruden appears to be sending a signal about his intolerance of drops, as well as his many options for receiving targets, even though wide receiver DeSean Jackson remains sidelined by a hamstring injury.
Roberts’s absence should create more opportunities for rookie Jamison Crowder, who has impressed coaches with his sure-handedness and toughness after the catch. A Duke graduate, Crowder already has supplanted Roberts as the team’s punt returner.
