Some questioned if Dwayne Haskins Jr. would ever be under center again for the Washington Football Team.
After coach Ron Rivera relegated Haskins to the bench four games into the season, Haskins wasn’t the backup — he was suddenly the third-string quarterback on a team that had selected him in the first round the year before.
“I hadn’t seen the growth I was looking for in those four games,” Rivera said at the time.
But Haskins trotted onto the field with five seconds remaining in the first half Sunday, took the snap and dropped to a knee.
