The Washington Redskins now officially have 53-men on their roster today. After releasing Kendall Reyes on Thursday morning, the team agreed to terms on a one year deal with Donte Whitner. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was the first to report of the deal.
Whitner is a solid player who is entering the back end of his career. He is known as a physical safety who is a ferocious hitter (hence his nickname “Hitner.”) When he was with the San Francisco 49ers, he developed into one of the top players at the strong safety position.
