Among the reasons the Redskins drafted Jamison Crowder ahead of where most scouts projected him was his potential as a big-play punt returner. Special teams was an area of weakness for the Redskins, and General Manager Scot McCloughan felt that the Duke product, who earned first-team all-ACC honors as a wide receiver and punt returner, could be an upgrade.
Drafted early in the fourth round, 105th overall, the 5-foot-8 Crowder supplanted Andre Roberts as the Redskins’ primary slot receiver in Week 5 and is currently the team’s fourth-leading receiver, with 52 catches for 482 yards and one touchdown.
