Derek Carrier is less than a month into his time with the Washington Redskins. In fact, the tight end has gone through 10 practices with his new team since the Redskins acquired him in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers. But when Washington opens the season this Sunday against Miami, Carrier will see a fair amount of action.
Jordan Reed leads a tight end unit still trying to recover from the training camp season-ending injuries to Niles Paul and Logan Paulsen. Reed will start. But it’s not realistic to expect that he can take every offensive snap, coaches know, and Washington also uses quite a few two-tight end sets, anyway.
