DeAngelo Hall wants to make an impact at safety, not just extend his career

Several successful NFL cornerbacks have transitioned to safety toward the end of their careers, Charles Woodson and Ronde Barber among them.

Asked if longevity was in the back of his mind after getting snaps at free safety in Sunday’s 47-14 rout of New Orleans, Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall batted down the suggestion like a would-be touchdown pass.

“I’m not gonna try to go play safety just to try to extend my career,” said Hall, 31, who earned three Pro Bowl honors as a cornerback with Atlanta and Washington. “I’m gonna go play safety just to be a damn good safety.
