David Bruton's contract with Redskins offers first-year value

The Washington Redskins have focused on finding depth and players who can compete for starting jobs -- but aren't guaranteed of having one. It's a different approach than they've used in the past and while it's left them with remaining holes, it hasn't saddled them with bad contracts in future years. Considering they have players they want to keep long term -- quarterback Kirk Cousins, tight end Jordan Reed and possibly either Pierre Garcon or DeSean Jackson -- there's wisdom in that, provided they can fill more of those hole.

Anyway, one player who fits the first description was signed Tuesday -- safety David Bruton.
