The Washington Redskins parted with one more high-priced veteran player on Monday, cutting free safety Dashon Goldson, according to two people with knowledge of the situation.
The move comes a year after Washington acquired Goldson via trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and following a season in which the nine-year veteran emerged as one of the leaders while helping spark a culture change within the locker room.
However, Goldson, 31, was scheduled to make $8 million in 2016, a figure that Redskins officials deemed too steep given his age and diminishing skill set.
