LANDOVER, Md. -- Five observations on the Washington Redskins' defense after their 27-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles:
The Redskins’ defense played well for a variety of reasons, but I’ll start with tackling. There was one relatively long run, a 22-yarder by Ryan Mathews, though the Eagles still averaged 4.5 yards per carry. But one difference on Sunday was that -- aside from the Mathews run -- when there were holes the Eagles weren’t getting big yards. Instead, if there was a hole for four or five yards, that’s all they got.
