RICHMOND — DreQuan Hoskey had just gotten off work when he received the call. The former University of Virginia cornerback’s phone rang a little later than he would’ve liked — three months after he went undrafted.
But better late than never, Hoskey likely thought to himself, when the Washington Redskins called early this week, asking him to join the team at training camp in his hometown of Richmond as a free agent signee.
The sudden news meant Hoskey had to leave Charlotte, where he’d just started a new profession, training to be a member of a NASCAR pit crew for Team Penske.
