Commanders' defensive mistakes are fixable, but issues are not uncommon from years past

This past Sunday, the Commanders secondary had its fair share of struggles against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There were some mistakes that Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield exploited and some opportunities that he missed. When the Buccaneers aligned in trips, bunched, or stacked formations, the coverage rules slowed players' ability to play fast and pick up the right man according to their releases. Communication has been a big hindrance to success for years in Washington’s secondary, and the problem reared its ugly head in Joe Whitt Jr’s debut in Washington. The good news is that the problems are fixable, and this new, highly qualified coaching staff should be given the opportunity to prove that they can fix it.
