Redskins third-down back Chris Thompson has been ruled out for Sunday’s game in Chicago because of a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
Thompson has made improvements each day, but still doesn’t have full range of motion. Newly-signed running back Pierre Thompson, a ninth-year veteran, could see some time on third downs Sunday. However, a final decision won’t come until Saturday or Sunday. Rookie Matt Jones also could be used on third downs, Coach Jay Gruden said Friday.
Also ruled out for Sunday’s game are inside linebacker Perry Riley Jr., who last week had surgery to repair a stress fracture in his right foot, and backup safety Jeron Johnson, who has a strained hamstring.
