Washington Redskins running back Chris Thompson will have surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder that he played through in the final three games of the season.
Thompson sustained the injury in Week 13 against the Dallas Cowboys and missed the next two games before returning against the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to a person familiar with the situation, Thompson is expected to undergo an arthroscopic procedure at the Cordasco Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
After Thompson was injured, the Redskins signed veteran running back Pierre Thomas.
