ASHBURN — Washington Commanders coach Ron Rivera said Wednesday he still doesn’t know if Chase Young will make his season debut Sunday, but if the defensive end plays against the Houston Texans, he’ll be on a pitch count.
Young is still working his way back from the torn ACL he suffered slightly more than a year ago. The Commanders designated the 23-year-old to return to practice on Nov. 2, though the team has 21 days to activate Young to the roster from the Physically Unable to Perform list. Young’s recovery has differed from the traditional ACL tear as he had reconstruction surgery, which takes longer to rehab.
