Bruce Allen: McCloughan firing was meant to bring Redskins ‘clarity’

Perched on the sunny patio at the Arizona Biltmore Sunday afternoon, Redskins President Bruce Allen elaborated on the team’s decision to dismiss former General Manager Scot McCloughan, saying McCloughan was fired to give players and staff some “clarity.”

Allen’s comments on the opening day of the NFL’s annual meetings at the Phoenix-area resort were the first official words from the team other than a short statement the night McCloughan was fired.

Scot was brought to the Redskins because of me and my relationship that I had with his father and his brother with the Raiders and the success we enjoyed there.
