Tuesday’s practice wasn’t the most physical of training camp, with players dressed in shells rather than full pads. But it was a good sign, nonetheless, that two key offensive starters, right guard Brandon Scherff and tight end Niles Paul, took part despite getting banged up Monday.
Scherff, whom the Redskins made the fifth overall pick in April’s NFL draft, appeared to roll an ankle Monday. “I’m fine; I’m fine,” he said Tuesday, staying late to work with offensive line coach Bill Callahan, as is his custom.
Paul, whom Coach Jay Gruden elevated to starting status for is versatility as a blocker and receiver, showed no evidence of any limitation in practice after taking a hard hit on his shoulder Monday.
