RICHMOND – Bashaud Breeland thinks the knee injury he suffered last week possibly could have been avoided had he worn longer cleats, but he called the rehabilitation process he’s now going through “just a minor setback.”
Breeland, the second-year cornerback, whom coaches have pegged as their top nickelback, strained the medial collateral ligament in his right knee when he slipped while trying to come back to the ball while matched up with a receiver in last Friday’s practice.
Initially, it appeared that Breeland had suffered a season-threatening injury. However, tests revealed the best possible scenario – the strained MCL, which will not need surgery.
